Patron saint of Patra

You may visit the cathedral of Ayios Andreas who is the patron saint of Patra and one of the biggest cathedrals in Balkans. There, there are found beautiful byzantine icons and one part of the irritated on which was a martyr the Apostle Andreas and the saint's head. You can see also the monastery of Prophet Elias, Pantanassa and the Omblou monastery that was established in the 14th century. In Patra there is and the famous distillery "Achaia - Claus" where you can taste wines of its production.

The visitor may also enjoy a coffee to the stairs of Yierokostopoulou, one of the most picturesque places in Patra, which has been pedestrianized, and it is a pleasant escape from the noise and the traffic. You may choose also the Touristic Kiosk that is found in the bright green spinney, which is the unique lung that has a view to the entire Achaean capital.

Square Georgiou A': It is found to the heart of the city and it's got two wonderful fountains designed by Chiller and represent lions with wings. Around it there are shops, cafeterias, the Municipal Theatre and the mansion of Speech and Art.

Psila Alonia (High threshing floors): It took its name from the previous use of the place, which was for grinding. Today, beautiful and neat, charms the children and the olds with the playgrounds and the multi-coloured squirts. Here you will see the statue of Paleon Patron Germanos and the Sundial.

City of Patra

Square Ayios Georgios (or 25th Martiou): It's opposite Patra's Ancient Conservatory and it's about the historic square where the Achaean fighters with Paleon Patron Germanos sweared to fight and win "freedom or death". Square Norman: A small square with the statue of Kostis Palamas. Square Olgas (or Ethnikis Antistaseos): Around the square, there are cafeterias that in combination with the rich shade that offer the trees is ideal for relax and freshness in the summer.
