Built on a low hill near the coast, it sparkles with it's traditional whitewashed houses, windmills, narrow lanes, and many old churches lovingly preserved by priest Giorgis Stamenas.
To the east rises the hill of Kefalos, with the ruins of the 15th century Venetian castle and the 16th century monastery of St. Antony, with remarkable icons and a fretwork icon screen.
It is a pleasant 20 minute walk up the hill, and the view from the top is truly breathtaking.
